Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Mount Desert, Maine. Completed plans call for site work for a 44,250-square-foot sidewalk / parking lot.

The project includes repaving 44,250 square feet of Old Firehouse Lane (OFHL) and the Gray Cow Parking area. The work involves all materials and workmanship as described in the plans and project documents. It includes 350 linear feet of 18" box cut excavation on Old Firehouse Lane to Gray Cow Parking, a new compacted gravel subgrade, and a compacted recycled asphalt pavement base repurposed from the site. Areas outside the box cut require full depth reclaimed asphalt, which will be pulverized and graded in place below a new 3" HMA base and 1" HMA surface. Type I granite curb installation is included along the south side of the Maritime Museum on Main Street. The facility will be striped to pre-existing traffic and parking patterns. A bid alternative is included for eight improvements to Main Street, with the possibility of separate contracts for those improvements. The work includes all labor, incidentals, materials, and workmanship to complete the project as detailed in the plans and specifications. All site work, quality, and workmanship are governed by the "State of Maine, Department of Transportation, Standard Specifications, March 2020" and corresponding supplemental specifications and standard details. The areas for the full reclamation are indicated on the plans. Due to the proximity of existing improvements post construction drainage flow and grading shall match the existing conditions. Contractors are advised to develop and verify quantities for bid preparation. The project includes subgrade underdrain pipes through the low spot of the parking areas as indicated on the plans. The underdrains require connection of the drains to two separate basins located on the west and east sides of the project. The project includes the installation of Type I granite curb along the south side of the maritime museum on Main Street. The project includes striping the facility to pre-existing traffic and parking patterns. The contractor is required to work in good faith to maintain access to the limited businesses and residents which use Gray Cow and OFHL for access. The means and methods of phasing the project and coordination of access is part of the contracted project scope. The Town has available alternative public parking within the project vicinity to OFHL. With the exception of the aforementioned businesses and residents the project area will be closed during construction. The bid includes a bid alternative for Eight (8) improvements to Main Street. The Town reserves the right to award the Main Street work to separate contractors from the OFHL and Gray Cow paving project described above. The site will be temporarily protected with erosion control during construction and following completion. The site will be permanently stabilized with loam and seed. The work includes all labor, incidentals, materials and workmanship to complete the project as detailed in project plans and specifications. Unless otherwise noted all site work required including quality and workmanship shall be governed by "State of Maine, Department of Transportation, Standard Specifications, March 2020" and corresponding "Supplemental Specifications (Corrections, Additions, & Revisions to Standard Specifications - March 2020" as well as "State of Maine, Department of Transportation, Standard Details, March 2020" and corresponding "Updates (Corrections, Additions and Revisions)". Question Deadline 01/19/2026 All questions about the meaning or intent of the Bidding Documents are to be submitted to Engineer in writing, Questions received less than ten days prior to the date for opening of Bids may not be answered.
