GPCOG recently received a $500,000 EPA Brownfields Assessment grant. These funds will support a full range of public outreach and assessment activities associated with the redevelopment of sites. These resources are aligned to support the following priorities in our region: Redevelopment that supports the economic viability of the Portland Peninsula, Westbrook Downtown, Sebago Lake Region, and the entirety of Cumberland County. Remove barriers to redevelopment of commercial properties. There is opportunity to convert Brownfield sites to affordable housing and more resilient mixed-use structures to address the challenges of homelessness and housing insecurity. Brownfields sites that advance the goals of the regions Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy. GPCOG is seeking one or more firms to serve as our Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) for the Brownfields program. Our QEP will serve as our Brownfields partner to ensure that assessments are conducted in accordance with State and Federal regulations. Although we anticipate selecting one or more firms, there is no minimum guarantee of work. Questions submitted: October 16, 2025 Selected firms will perform one or more of the following tasks per project site in compliance with applicable terms and conditions of the funding source(s) being used. It is our intent to use the same QEP to perform all required work at each site. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
