1.2.1 Project Description The work includes The Shaw Air Force Base (AFB) MTC Facility is a small standard design Mission Training Complex (MTC) as defined in the Mission Training Complex (MTC) Planning Guide, dated 6 September 2011. The MTC will be a one story structure designed to support individual and collective digital training and battle staff training using constructive simulations with command, control, communications, computers and intelligence (C4I) interoperability. The main components of the MTC are organized into a 'non-secure' administration area and a 'secure' training area with the entire building, exclusive of the central lobby, being designed as a "Controlled Access Area )CAA)". A central Lobby, adjacent to the administration area, functions as the access checkpoint for employees, students, and visitors. A separate Security Access Facility (SAF) is also included as part of the overall complex. Site improvements will include but not be limited to clearing and grubbing, site grading, utility services, storm water management, security fencing, Tactical Operation Center (TOC) pads, concrete sidewalks, ramps, and stairs, dumpster pad, access roads, vehicular parking, landscaping, and erosion and sediment control. A separate site housing the existing Shaw AFB Battle Command Training Center (BCTC) exists to the northwest of the MTC site. That building will be demolished following occupancy of the new MTC and its concrete paved site turned into a full-functioning TOC area in support of this project's MTC and incidental related work.
