Site work for a water / sewer project in Jupiter, Florida. Conceptual plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
Update: This project is for historic and environmental improvements at Sawfish Bay Park and include the interior build out of the Historic Train Depot for a museum, community meeting space/interpretation of the Aicher House and a living shoreline along the park's existing seawall. Bathrooms will be needed to serve the museum and Aicher House community space. In 2015, the Town decided the Train Depot will be a museum and in 2018, the historic Aicher House was relocated and preserved in the park. Staff has worked with the Loxahatchee Guild and the Loxahatchee River Historical Society for donation/artifacts. Environmental enhancements to the park will improve water quality and provide an improved marine habitat along the existing walkway connecting activities between the north and south parts of the park. Staff has secured partnerships with the Jupiter Inlet District (sedimentation study), the Loxahatchee River District (seagrass and water quality monitoring) and the Jupiter Inlet Foundation (educational seagrass buoys). Work continues with the Jupiter High School Jupiter Environmental Research Field Studies Academy to help with mangrove planting, oyster bed restoration and education. The goal is to improve water quality, increase oyster recruitment and provide an environment conducive to seagrass growth. If grant moneis are awarded to fund Phase 4 and 5 for marine restoration of Sawfish Bay by NOAA for $3.2M the projected in-service date will extend to 2029. Bathrooms will be needed in 2025 to serve the museum & community space. A living shoreline is proposed along the vinyl seawall to include riprap, Reef Balls, mangroves, & a flushing culvert in three phases. Phase 1 was completed and Phase 2 the marina basin is anticipated in Fall 2023 with the area north of the marina basin in Fall 2024. In 2024, work will begin with FDOT to divert and retain the FDOT outfall for stormwater quality. The installation of educational buoys at the mouth of the basin and Sawfish Island will create a zone for nonmotorized watercraft in an area already too shallow for boaters. In FY 2019- 2020, additional pole lights and construction drawings were completed for the deck and ADA ramp around the Aicher House. Construction of the deck/ramp for the Aicher house, under building skirting and rough electrical for the Aicher House are on schedule to be completed by 9/2020 as well as the construction documents for the interior build out of the Train Depot for the museum. Work to be completed in 2021 include: interior build out of the museum, landscaping for the Aicher House, environmental permitting for a natural shoreline in the boat basin, and planning (survey & site plan) for future a bathroom facility near the historic structures. As of June 16, 2021, this project is included in the Town of Jupiter FY 2021-2025 CIP and construction is planned for year prior to 2021 and for 2021. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
