The Work will include but is not limited to the following improvements: Remove and dispose of existing media and support gravel at site designated by Owner (HMU) Removal and disposal of media present below under drain at site designated by Owner (HMU) Install new gravel bed and media Inspect air wash system If determined necessary following inspection, and following authorization of Engineer, install new air wash system Replacement of under drain nozzles, authorized by Engineer Disinfection of filter Start-up services authorized by the Engineer Each bid shall be accompanied by a bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, in the form of a Bid Bond, Certified Check, Cashiers Check or a Certified Share Draft in a separate sealed envelope in an amount equal to five (5%) percent of the total amount bid. A Bid Bond must be on the form provided with the Contract Documents. The Certified Check or Cashiers Check shall be drawn on a state-chartered or federally chartered bank. A Certified Share Draft shall be drawn on a state-chartered or federally chartered credit union. Certified Checks, Cashiers Checks or Certified Share Drafts shall be made payable to the Harlan Municipal Utilities, as security that if awarded a contract, the Bidder will enter into a contract at the prices bid and furnish the required Performance and Payment Bonds and Certificate of Insurance. The Certified Check, Certified Share Draft or Cashiers Check may be cashed, or the Bid Bond forfeited, and the proceeds retained as liquidated damages if the bidder fails to execute a contract or fi le acceptable performance bonds or provide an acceptable certificate of insurance within ten (10) days after the acceptance of his proposal by resolution of the Harlan Municipal Utilities. No bidder may withdraw a proposal within ninety (90) days after the date set for opening bids. Each successful Bidder will be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred (100%) percent of the Contract Price. Said Bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the Harlan Municipal Utilities and authorized to do business in the State of Iowa and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and the maintenance of said improvements in good repair for not less than two (2) years from the date of Substantial Completion. Successful bidder shall also be required to provide Payment Bond as provided in the Specifi cations. All Bonds subject to the appropriate requirements in Code of Iowa 573.2 through 573.5 Work on the project shall be fully complete by FEBRUARY 1, 2021. Isolation of Filter No. 2 will be conducted by Harlan Municipal Utility Staff. Awarded contractor must provide a minimum of three (3) working days notice prior to requested date when work is to commence. Once Filter No. 2 is isolated and removed from service, work shall be completed, and Filter No. 2 will be repaired and ready to be returned to service within three (3) calendar weeks. Failure to complete the work under the specified schedules, including working days and the fi nal completion date, will result in liquidated damages of $500.00 per day until the project is complete The Harlan Municipal Utilities reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the Harlan Municipal Utilities.
