Demolition, site work and new construction of a water / sewer project in Akron, Ohio. Completed plans call for the demolition of a water / sewer project; for the construction of a water / sewer project; and for site work for a water / sewer project.

Contract Duration: Not to Exceed 270 Calendar Days. City of Akron Local Goal: 18% Edge/dbe/mbe/wbe/sbe/vbe (Minimum 3% Wbe) Epa Goals: 1.3% Mbe and 1.0% Wbe Project Description: the Purpose of This Project is to Reconstruct the Quaker Ridge Sanitary Pump Station and Its Force Main. Plans Are in Accordance With the City of Akron, Construction and Material Specifications, 2008 Edition and With the City's Standard Construction Drawings, Unless Otherwise Noted in the Plans or the Bid Book. Disadvantaged Business (Dbe) Participation Goals (Subcontracts, Materials, Supplies) Have Been Set on This Project for Those Certified as Dbe's in Accordance With a Federal Agency Such as the Small Business Administration or the Department of Transportation or by an Approved State of Ohio Agency. The Unified Certification Program (Ucp) Administered by the Ohio Department of Transportation (Odot) Can Provide Necessary Dbe Certifications. This Procurement is Subject to the Environmental Protection Agency (Epa) Policy of Encouraging the Participation of Small Businesses in Rural Areas (Sbras). For the Purpose of This Project, the Minority Business Enterprise (Mbe) Utilization Goals Shall Be Defined as Contractors and/or Subcontractors With Mbe's for the Minimum Amount of 1.3% of the Contract Price; and the Women's Business Enterprise (Wbe) Utilization Goals Shall Be Defined as Contractors and/or Subcontractors With Wbe's for the Minimum Amount of 1.0% of the Contract Price. Each Proposal Must Include a Detailed Plan to Meet or Exceed the City's Local Edge/dbe/mbe/sbe/vbe/wbe Firm Goals and the Epa Diversity Inclusion Goals Set Forth Above. The Final Agreed Upon Plan Will Be Attached to the Agreement as an Exhibit and the Selected Proposer Shall Be Obligated to Comply With Said Plan. The City of Akron is Committed to Ensuring That Individuals With Disabilities Are Able to Fully Participate in Public Programs, Services, and Activities. Domestic Steel Use Requirements as Specified in Section 153.011 of the Ohio Revised Code Apply to This Project. Copies of Section 153.011 of the Ohio Revised Code Can Be Obtained From the Ohio Department of Administrative Services. Except as Provided in Section 102.07 of the City of Akron, Construction and Materials Specifications, 2008 Edition, Each Proposal Must Be Accompanied by a Certified Check in the Sum of 5% of Bids on a Solvent Bank, or a Bid Bond in Like Amount, Acceptable to the City of Akron, as a Guarantee, That if the Proposal is Accepted, a Contract Will Be Entered Into. Proposals May Be Held by City for a Period Not to Exceed One Hundred Twenty (120) Days After the Date Proposals Are Opened for the Purpose of Reviewing the Proposals and Investigating the Qualifications of Proposers Prior to Awarding the Agreement. Except as Provided in Section 34.09 of the City's Code of Ordinance, the Proposer to Whom the Agreement is Awarded Will Be Required to Furnish a Performance and Payment Bond in the Sum of 100% of the Contract Price for the Faithful Performance of the Contract. The Performance and Payment Bond Shall Remain in Full Effect Until Final Completion of the Project. The Director of Public Service Reserves the Right to Reject Any or All Bids, and to Waive Informalities. Nondiscrimination in Employment Bidders Must Use the Prepared Forms Provided Therefore Which Include Compliance With Section 34.03 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Akron, Ohio Regarding Public Contracts. Additionally, Contractor Compliance With the Equal Employment Opportunity Requirements of Ohio Administrative Code Chapter 123, the Governor's Executive Order of 1972, and Governor's Executive Order 84-9 Shall Be Required
