Evaluate land opportunities to support recreation needs and protect natural resources for a new neighborhood park in south Tualatin to serve residents and employees. Acquire land and develop park and recreation facilities in future years. This project fulfills four of the Council 2030 Vision initiatives that include: Connected Informed & Engaged, Vibrant & Accessible Gathering Places, Safe, Desirable & Welcoming Neighborhoods, and Environmentally Active & Responsible Planning process with public engagement to determine the park needs and priorities to acquire land, design and construct a park and recreation facilities. In October 2022 the City of Tualatin Parks & Recreation department acquired parkland for the future community of the Basalt Creek area, thanks mainly to Metro Local Share funds and system development funds from the City. City Council adopted the Basalt Creek Parks & Recreation Plan on August 12, 2024, by ordinance. This ordinance beccame effective 30 days after adoption, on September 11, 2024. Tualatin has acquired 17 acres of parkland in the Basalt Creek area, which community members will be involved in planning once residential developments are completed. Also, the City is currently developing a pedestrian and bike pathway that connects Autumn Sunrise development and Plambeck Gardens affordable housing complex to Boones Ferry Road and public transportation. Project is included City of Tualatin Fiscal Year 2025-2029. As of February 25, 2025, construction is expected in FY2026/2027. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
