The District is requesting statements of qualifications from contractors interested in being prequalified for the bidding of the Fruit Heights Pipeline Project. After prequalification, the project will bid from the end of December 2021 to the middle of January 2022. Substantial completion is anticipated to be May 2022. The District provides culinary water to cities in Davis county through the existing 16" welded steel pipeline which has been in operation for several decades in its current alignment. The current alignment traverses outside of roadways and in backyards of local resident properties. The new alignment (approximately 1.6 miles long) will remain almost completely within City streets. The District has chosen to use C-900 PVC pipe and ductile iron fittings for the new, relocated pipeline for this area. The sections of pipe on either end of this project have recently been replaced with C-900 PVC pipe and will be connected into as part of this project. There will be multiple mainline valves installed, as well as combination air-vacuum valves throughout the project. The District's desire is to have the new pipeline fully operational by May 2, 2022. This date coincides with the general timeframe in which water demands typically begin to increase. Once flows increase District-wide, it becomes more difficult to shut down the mainline for any extended period of time. If needed, there is a possibility that the pipeline can be installed in phases, but this option is not the District's preference.
