Renovation of a library in Middlebury, Vermont. Completed plans call for the renovation of a library.
Middlebury seeks proposals for treating and restoring eight historic exterior windows, three historic interior windows, and two interior entry doors with hinged transoms at Ilsley Public Library. The Town of Middlebury seeks proposals for: . the restoration and treatment of eleven (11) windows .the restoration and treatment of two (2) entry doors Proposals must reflect a historic preservation approach. These historic, 1923 windows are largely in good condition and consist of several sizes of one-over-one double-hung units, some with fixed transoms. The frames appear to be oak, and are hung on sash weights. The primary goal of executed work should be to conduct basic maintenance tasks and minor repairs, restore the sashes to smoothly operating state, install weather stripping that will allow the sashes to both operate better and provide more satisfactory thermal performance, and scraping and painting the exterior woodwork as necessary. Contractor is required to secure window openings for security and weather for the duration of the project. Bids are due on Friday, April 1, 2022. Completion is expected by September 30, 2022. Contractor shall submit an anticipated schedule based on this information.
