The Ministry of Forests is looking to complete a wildfire risk reduction treatment in the Wells area. The sites are Reduction road (11.1ha) and the Wells Transfer station (1.4ha) to meet specific wildfire behaviour objectives. The addition of the Wells Transfer Station treatment will be subject to funding availability. The services required for this project include, but are not limited to, overstorey and understorey thinning, removal of dead timber, pruning of reserve trees, surface fuel clean-up, and pile and burning or removal off-site of residual material. No chipping and scattering is allowed unless prior arrangements are made to transport chips offsite The total treatment area is 12.5 ha and all work including the removal of material and the completion of pile burning must be completed by March 15, 2024. If this work cannot be done within that timeline due to unforeseen circumstances prior to this including hot dry weather or poor venting we can do a contract modification to extend the timeline so the work may continue when conditions are more appropriate. The estimated contract period will be 8 month(s).
