As of May 29, 2025, this is still in the conceptual phase. The City of Kennewick Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department is requesting proposals from qualified firms to provide consulting services to the City of Kennewick to produce a comprehensive planning process for pedestrian and bicycle pathways and trails, leading to the adoption of a Pathways and Trails Masterplan. The overarching goal is to understand the extent of pathway and trail needs, development of trails using existing canal infrastructure, connection of new trails development, development through maintenance, and the resources required to meet these needs. This will lead to strategic development of new facilities as well as implementation of a maintenance regimen upon completion. The plan will direct development and ongoing maintenance of shared-use paths and similar facilities. The selected firm will have excellent proven experience and knowledge in parks and recreation planning, project management, urban and rural pathway and trail planning, maintenance of trails and pathways, and will be effective in soliciting public involvement, will work closely with City staff, Parks & Recreation Commission, and Kennewick Irrigation District in preparing the Plan.
