This project is to replace the superstructure of Bridge No. 0500100 on MD 16 over Mill Creek. The existing bridge is a one-span voided slab bridge with a 50' span, carrying two 12' lanes and 9' shoulders. The replacement superstructure will be precast prestressed concrete NEXT beams with a structural concrete deck and three-strand tube rail. The project will also include miscellaneous substructure repairs, installation of scour countermeasures, re-paving of MD 16, and tree clearing on the downstream slope south of the bridge. Traffic is to be maintained through a vehicular detour, and an incentive-disincentive clause has been included to limit the detour to eight weeks. In accordance with State Finance and Procurement Title 13 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, no bid, performance, or payment bonds are required for bids less than $100,000.00. However, bids $100,000.00 and above will not be considered unless a Bid Security is submitted as outlined in the Invitation for Bids. Bid Security shall equal at least five percent (5%) of the total amount bid. Also, the successful bidder will be required to supply Payment and Performance Bonds for all Contracts in excess of $100,000.00.
