The City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) is requesting proposals from qualified consultants to provide structural engineering services for the Mendenhall Wastewater Treatment Plant Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) Basins Condition Assessment project. The Mendenhall Wastewater Treatment Plant has operated eight (8) SBR basins and two sludge tanks to treat municipal wastewater since the late 1980s. Each SBR basin is 28' wide x 62' long x 27' deep and constructed of steel-reinforced concrete with walls 1'-6" to 1'-8" thick and floor 2'-0" thick. Plant staff has noted pitting, flaking, and other deterioration in the basins' concrete walls, and degradation of joint seals. The Class 3 process is used for acquisition of professional service contracts estimated to be more than $50,000 1.3 Completion Phase 1: Condition Assessment and Recommendations report complete by April 1, 2024. Phase 2: Bid-ready documents complete by May 31, 2024. This contract expires on June 30, 2024, unless an amendment changing this date is fully executed prior to June 30, 2024. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
