Working plans call for the demolition of a playground / park / athletic field; for the construction of a playground / park / athletic field; and for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.

As of September 19, 2024. Bids were rejected. No anticipated rebid date yet. The work for this project consists primarily of construction of a new concrete masonry bathroom and concessions building in Carroll Park on Isle La Plume in La Crosse and associated utilities. The existing bathroom building and existing storage shed will be demolished or removed by others prior to the commencement of work under this project. New storm sewer manhole, inlet and pipes will also be installed by others prior to commencing work under this contract, but riprap at the new storm pipe outfall IS INCLUDED as part of this contract. The work for this project will consist primarily of, but not limited to, the following: excavation; a subsoil ventilation system; concrete masonry; concrete slabs and footings; engineered wood trusses; horizontal lap siding; asphalt shingles and roof vents; water supply, drain and vent piping; bathroom fixtures and toilet partitions; installation of city-suppled concession appliances, machines and stainless steel tables; drinking fountains and sinks; electrical systems; interior and exterior light fixtures; flag poles; overhead doors; and picnic tables. This project is occurring in an abandoned landfill site and landfill materials, possibly including hazardous materials, will likely be encountered while conducting work on this project. Any encountered landfilled materials that need to be hauled off-site shall be hauled and disposed of according to all applicable state and federal regulations. Any encountered landfilled materials that can remain on-site, as well as any undisturbed landfilled materials, are to be covered with a layer of clean fill and a layer of topsoil during final grading operations. The City shall obtain the following permits and approvals required for this project: Wisconsin DNR Land Disturbance and Sanitary Sewer Extension permits City of La Crosse Design Review Process approval and Stormwater permit State Building Plan, Building Plumbing Plan and Site Plumbing Plan approvals Construction administration services will be provided by Makepeace Engineering, LLC.
