Shawnee County will provide the equipment and labor to haul the rock material from the quarry to its road maintenance facilities. As a result, Shawnee County reserves the right to factor in transportation costs in determining the best bid for procurement of the material. Therefore, the bidder shall list in its bid form the physical address of the quarry from which the material is to be hauled. As such, Shawnee County reserves the right to enter into a contract with more than one bidder if transportation costs increase the total cost to acquire and deliver the material to a particular road maintenance facility compared to that of another quarry. In addition, Shawnee County reserves the right to procure material from the supplier providing the second best bid if the supplier submitting the best bid is unable to supply the quality or quantity bid within the timeframes stated below Shawnee County is soliciting sealed bids for the 2024 purchase of 4,000 tons of washed, crushed limestone material for use in its chip and seal road maintenance activities per the following minimum specifications. The bid amounts shall be the price for on-site pickup. Shawnee County staff will haul the material to its final destinations. The bid amount shall not be subject to escalation prior to December 31, 2024. The supplier will be required to furnish a copy of the gradation results and/or samples of the material to Shawnee County for testing. Washed, crushed limestone meeting the following graduation. Subsequent to the bid opening, all bids shall be thoroughly evaluated and a determination made as to their compliance with applicable specifications. The appropriate County department head shall make this determination. Upon completion of the above determination, an analysis of all bids submitted shall be prepared and formally presented to the Board of County Commissioners for acceptance and approval of the lowest and/or best bid.
