This project includes accessibility upgrades along Greenwich Avenue where existing pedestrian ramps do not comply with ADA requirements. Pedestrian ramps at the eight (8) intersections along Greenwich Avenue will be replaced as needed based on the Town's ADA Transition Plan inventory. Also, curb ramps will be added or improved at all on-street ADA parking spaces. Additionally, new ADA parking spaces will be designated along the Avenue in underserved blocks, and existing onstreet ADA spaces will be modified such that they have adequate access aisle widths as required. Where possible, said ADA spaces will be sized and oriented for van access. Reconstruction of the curb ramps in some locations will require small curb extensions to flatten the slopes. Areas to add general parking will be explored to offset the new ADA-designated spaces; it is envisioned that total on-street parking will not be reduced nor will there be any impacts to parking or traffic operations. Accessible push button improvements are also scoped for the two signalized intersections at the top and bottom of Greenwich Avenue. This is in conjunction with and should be completed prior to the Greenwich Avenue Repaving project. The project is include in the city's 2025-2039 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
