Renovation of an educational facility in Crisfield, Maryland. Working plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

MINORITY BUSINESS ENTERPRISE (MBE) UTILIZATION While there are no specific MBE goals related to the Construction Manager's Pre-Construction or Construction Services, the Construction Manager will play an integral role in establishing the overall goals and sub-goals for each trade scope. In addition, as noted in the Bidding scope requirements for the CM's construction stage activities, the Construction Manager is required to actively solicit interest in the Project from local contractors, subcontractors, providers, and vendors, with emphasis on Certified MBE entities to assure the Project's MBE goals are met. PROJECT DESCRIPTION The Systemic Renovation includes a holistic approach to improving the lifespan of Crisfield Academy & High School, providing a more efficient HVAC system with better indoor air quality, improved ADA access to restrooms, code and life safety improvements. The building is currently partially sprinklered, which will be extended to the entire building as part of this project. All ceilings, floors, exterior door and windows have exceeded their lifespan and will be replaced.The two-story portion of CAHS including the gymnasium was originally constructed in 1952, with a major addition in 1973 configured around two interior courtyards. The most recent renovation occurred in 1997 adding an elevator, but some areas and equipment (including main electrical switchgear and generator) were untouched. In 2017, a limited portion of the plan north side of the building was renovated as part of a separate Head Start program. This area is excluded from the scope of the current systemic renovation. With ESSER funding, SCPS has replaced some failing mechanical equipment including a new rooftop chiller within the past year. This new equipment will remain and is not part of this replacement project. This project incorporates electrical recommendations to replace interior lighting and controls, provide new emergency and exit lighting, a new fire alarm system, new electrical service, new generator and the required electrical support for a new HVAC system. Plumbing fixtures will be replaced throughout, including cast-iron piping and plumbing chases to support ADA compliant reconfiguration. Existing cast iron piping cracked above the firstfloor ceiling and will need to be replaced. New science lab equipment, casework and MEP connections are included in four classrooms. A new main electrical room and emergency electrical room will be constructed as an addition, adjacent to the proposed new generator location. Delmarva Power will be involved in providing a new transformer as part of the increased electrical need
