As of August 30, 2024 this project was awarded to Weick Bros., Inc. in the amount of $1,694,040.70. The City of Norton Shores is seeking sealed bids for the Lake Harbor Trail Project. The work will include approximately 2.8 miles of Hot-Mix Asphalt (HMA) trail construction along the west side of Lake Harbor Road between Lake Harbor Park and Henry Street including retaining wall construction, tree removal, ADA ramps, culvert extension, spot concrete curb and gutter, traffic control, restoration, and all related work. Construction shall be per the Michigan Department of Transportation 2020 Standard Specifications for Construction, EGLE and County Permits, the DNR Operating Agreement for work within the State Park, and attached specifications. The Contractor may begin the work once a Notice to Proceed has been issued. Work shall be done in two phases. Phase 1 will complete the trail between the Point of Beginning (Lake Harbor Park Driveway) to Sternberg Road by November 15, 2024. Phase 2 will complete the installation of the trail between Sternberg Road and Henry Street with final restoration by June 30, 2025. All tree removals within the State Park will be within the time frame permitted by the DNR Operating Agreement. A certified check, bank draft, or bid bond in the sum of not less than five percent (5%) of the amount of the proposal will be required with each bid. The City will award the project in a manner determined to be in the best interest of the City. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids in the best interest of the City. Phase 2 will complete the installation of the trail between Sternberg Road and Henry Street with final restoration by July 31, 2025 or within 18 weeks from the start of construction, not including seasonal shutdowns whichever is sooner.
