Construction of Ashawa and Wild Rose Parks Play Equipment, including all materials, labor, and equipment necessary for site demolition/preparation, sediment/erosion control, and construction of new playgrounds at each park site mentioned above, in the same location as the existing playgrounds. Improvements include, generally: removal/replacement of some PCC walks, drives and curbs, removal/replacement of play equipment, PIP rubber and rubber tile playground surfacing, PCC beam curbs, site amenities, sod/plantings, and all other associated work to complete the playground replacement projects as noted in Contract Documents. Each proposal shall be electronically accompanied by a scanned copy of the bid bond or a scanned copy of a cashier's or certified check drawn on an Iowa bank or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the total amount of the bid. If a bid bond is submitted it must be on the form provided with the contract documents. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance and payment bond in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price guaranteeing faithful performance of the contract and guaranteeing payment to all persons supplying labor and/or materials in the execution of the work provided for in the contract. Additionally the contractor must provide the City with a guarantee of maintenance of said improvement in the form of surety for a period of four (4) years from the time of acceptance by the City Work on said project shall commence within ten (10) days of the written notice to proceed and shall be completed by September 30, 2025. Liquidated damages in the amount of Two-Hundred dollars ($200.00) per day will be assessed for each day that the work remains uncompleted after the end of the contract period.
