The City of Independence, Missouri invites bids from firms meeting the qualifications set forth herein and in any referenced documents to perform the following scope of work at the Courtney Bend Water Treatment Plant for the Water Department. The contract for this project shall provide for, but not limited to, all equipment, materials, and workmanship required for the proper surface preparation and application of new protective coating systems to the interior and exterior surfaces of Contact Basin No.1, and the top coating of Settling Basin No. 3. Contact Basin No. 1 is water treatment basin used in the treatment process to produce potable water at the CB WTP. It is primarily of carbon steel plate construction, and was constructed in 1967. 1.2. Contact Basin No. 1 features carbon steel sidewalls, sloped floor, and appurtenances. 1.3. The overall dimensions of Contact Basin No. 1 are as follows: 1.3.1. - 70 feet inside diameter 1.3.2. - 19 feet sidewall height 1.4. The basin carbon steel appurtenances include, but not are not limited to, the following: 1.4.1.Center rake support structure/column 1.4.2.Center angle steel rake support column 1.4.3.Angle steel lattice type rake arms 1.4.4.Structural steel member catwalk supports 1.4.5.Center angle steel rake support column. 1.4.6.Drum and cone plate reaction well 1.4.7.Drum and cone support rods 1.4.8.Annular effluent collection launder 1.4.9. Nine (9) 12" nominal pipe size radial effluent launders with wall supports 1.4.10. 30" diameter effluent pipe (interior) 1.4.11. Sidewall stiffener ring and walkway supports 1.4.12. 30" diameter effluent pipe (exterior) 1.4.13. 4'-30" center draft tube (interior) 1.4.14. 24" diameter shell manway 1.4.15. Lap join plate steel floor sloping to the basin center 1.4.16. Steel Plate center collection sump 1.4.17. Center basin drive mechanisms 1.4.18. Ten (10) feet diameter fabricated plate turbine 1.4.19. Walkway and conduit support structure with handrail 1.5. The basin rests upon a concrete ring wall foundation at the basin sidewall. 1.6. The entire existing interior and exterior coating system is to be completely removed by the Contractor as specified herein. The known details of the existing coating system are as follows: 1.6.1.Interior Coating System: Two coat epoxy system 1.6.2.Exterior Coating System: Two coat epoxy - urethane system 1.7.
