The City of Big Rapids is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide plants and flowers that are appropriate for both the durability and aesthetics. There are 60 flower inserts, 62 hanging baskets and 24 potted baskets that will require planting before installation within Downtown Big Rapids. Flower and plants for the permanent planter boxes will be coordinated with the successful bidder working in partnership with DDA and the City of Big Rapids. The contract awarded will be between the successful bidder and the City of Big Rapids. DDA and the City of Big Rapids seeks a professional entity to work with city staff to coordinate orders of plants and flowers, grown in a secure greenhouse environment, deliver the flowers and plants in the spring. The qualified vendor will work directly with the Department of Public Works. PROJECT AREAS There are 62 hanging baskets, 24 potted baskets and 60 flower inserts located in Downtown Big Rapids on Michigan Ave. and Maple Street. There are permanent concrete flower planters that will require flowers and plants to be delivered for city staff to plant. The City Commission will accept the recommendation from the Public Works Director and City Manager on Thursday, October 17, 2024. Terms for the successful vendor will be three (3) years with two, three (3) year extensions.
