Chris Walsh was a strong advocate of historic and open space preservation. Developing the Chris Walsh Trail is the result of a cooperative effort and funding at the federal, state, and local levels and is being undertaken in a multi-phased approach. Phases 1 & 2 of the project are currently in the permitting and design process and will develop an accessible pedestrian trail along Farm Pond, providing connectivity to Farm Pond Park, the Sudbury Aqueduct, and the boat ramp. These two phases of construction include additional parking and other improvements at Farm Pond Park, a kayak launch, scenic overlooks with benches, and other site amenities along the trail. Future phases of design and development will focus on the potential to expand connectivity of the trail, including a pedestrian bridge over the rail lines to downtonw Framingham As of October 28, 2024, This project is included in the city's 2025-2034 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
