Demolition and site work for an educational facility in Upton, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the demolition of a educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.

The project includes, but is not limited to, the demolition of the existing storefront, infilling with brick and reinforced CMU, the creation of openings for walk-in cooler doors, and obtaining necessary permits and approvals. Additional scope includes structural modifications, and restoration of finishes. All Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), and Fire Alarm (FA) systems work will be completed by Blackstone Valley Tech (BVT). Questions concerning this Invitation for Bid must be submitted through online no later than Friday, December 6, 2024 at 5:00 P.M. Responses will be posted and made available to all vendors on record through Public Purchase as having downloaded (requested) the Scope of Services. A. The bid deposit must be in the form of a certified, treasurer's or cashier's check from a responsible bank or trust company payable to the awarding authority; cash; or a bid bond from a surety company, payable to the awarding authority. The bid security shall be in the amount stated in the Invitation for Bid. The bid security shall be sealed in a separate envelope from the bid and then attached to the envelope containing the bid. All bid securities except those of the three lowest responsible and eligible bidders will be returned within five days, Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays excluded, after opening of the bids. All bid securities will be returned on the execution of the agreement or if no award is made, within forty-five (45) days, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays after the actual date of opening of the bids, unless forfeited under the conditions herein stipulated. Bid bonds shall be retained by BVT. B. In case a bidder to whom a contract is awarded shall fail or neglect to execute the contract and furnish the satisfactory bonds within the time specified, BVT may determine that the bidder has abandoned the contract, and thereupon the bid forms and acceptance shall be null and void and the bid security accompanying the bid form shall be forfeited to BVT as liquidated damages for such failure or neglect and to indemnify said BVT for any loss which may be sustained by failure of the bidder to execute the contract and furnish the bonds as aforesaid, provided that the amount forfeited to BVT shall not exceed the difference between the bid price of said bidder and that of the next lowest responsible and eligible bidder, and provided further that, in case of death, disability, or other unforeseen circumstances affecting the bidder, such bid security may be returned to the bidder. After execution of the contract and acceptance of the bonds by BVT, the bid security accompanying the bid form of the Awarded Bidder will be returned. 4.0 PERFORMANCE, PAYMENT AND OTHER BONDS A. For any bid over $50,000 up to $150,000, the Awarded Bidder must furnish a fifty percent (50%) payment bond, of a surety company qualified to do business under the laws of the Commonwealth and satisfactory to BVT, for fifty percent (50%) of the sum of the contract price, the premiums for which are to be paid by the Awarded Bidder and are included in the contract price. B. For any bid over $150,000, the Awarded Bidder must furnish a one hundred percent (100%) performance bond and also a one hundred percent (100%) labor and materials payment bond, each of a surety company qualified to do business under the laws of the Commonwealth and satisfactory to BVT, and each in the sum of the contract price, the premiums for which are to be paid by the Awarded Bidder and are included in the contract price. C. All required bonds shall be furnished prior to execution of the contract. The project consists of, but is not limited to, the complete demolition and removal of the existing storefront, including framing and glazing; infill of the storefront area with brick and reinforced CMU with a cold joint to integrate with the existing facade; installation of structural tie-backs to secure the new infill wall to the existing steel roof framing, in compliance with structural codes; creation of two masonry openings in the infill wall for walk-in cooler doors, precisely coordinated per specifications; waterproofing of all roof and wall joints to prevent water ingress at cooler locations; provision and installation of a structural concrete slab to support the walk-in cooler; installation of structural lintels above the cooler openings, sized per project standards; and restoration of all finishes affected by the work, including acoustical ceiling tile, wall tile, and flooring, to match existing conditions, in addition to all other work noted in the specifications and drawings. All Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), and Fire Alarm (FA) systems work will be completed by Blackstone Valley Tech (BVT).
