Site work for a water / sewer project in Greenville, Michigan. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The City of Greenville will receive sealed bids for GREENVILLE WASTEWATER RETURN WATER LINE work at 205 E. Fairplains Street in Greenville. The Project includes removal of approximately 661 feet of 6-inch diameter DR11 HDPE pipe to act as a force main with pump reconfiguration. Of the total length 362 feet is to be installed inside an existing 16-inch carrier pipe and 299 feet will be in an open cut trench that will require 115 square yards of HMA removal and replacement with gravel. The project will also include a connection to an existing manhole. SCOPE OF WORK: The BID DOCUMENTS include one general plan sheet that shows the work that is summarized as: 1. Mobilizing materials, equipment and labor to the site located at 205 E. Fairplains Street. 2. Provide 6 inch DR11 HDPE pipe and the equipment and expertise to make the joints. 3. Open cut excavate to install the pipe, with heat tracing, as shown on the plans from the existing primary clarifier number 4 to the manhole shown to the north of the Screen Building. 4. Open cut excavate to expose the areas of the existing carrier pipe to be cut and enough room to insert the HDPE pipe into the carrier pipe with heat tracing. 5. Backfill and compact all trenches with excavated material. 6. During excavation there are areas crossing the driveway that will require HMA removal. The item will include replacing the removal with 8 inches of 22A gravel. 7. Core and seal the receiving manhole to receive the force main pipe. 8. Provide materials, labor and equipment to configure the owner-supplied pump so that the finished product operates as a complete system, transferring water from the tank to the manhole without leaking. BIDDER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS It is the intention of the OWNER to award these Contracts to the lowest responsive and responsible BIDDER, and reserves the right to reject any and all bids, or postpone the bid due date, for sound, documentable business reasons. A responsive and responsible BIDDER is one who has indicated their intention to BID; has completely filled in the appropriate forms and other documents required; and has otherwise demonstrated a good-faith effort to submit a complete bid. The OWNER reserves the right to waive any minor irregularities or informalities in the BIDS. BIDS: BIDS for this Project will be publicly solicited and will result in unit price contract that will include some lump sum items. The BID FORM includes a signed statement of compliance, acknowledgement of ADDENDA, a listing of items of work for the BIDDER to fill in total prices and signature page. All signatures must be original and in ink. The BID FORM shall be completely and legibly filled in with ink or printed or typed. BIDS shall be signed personally by the duly authorized representative of the BIDDER, and shall include proof of that authority with the BID FORM. The BID amount shall also appear in written form. If there is a discrepancy between the written number and the figures, the written number will take priority. A bid bond is not required. RIGHTS RESERVED BY THE CITY: The CITY OF GREENVILLE reserves the right to accept to reject any or all BIDS for sound, documentable business reasons. The competency and responsibility of BIDDERS will be considered in awarding CONTRACTS. The CITY OF GREENVILLE does not obligate itself to accept the lowest or any other bid. The CITY OF GREENVILLE reserves the right to waive any informality or minor defects in any or all bids. The CITY OF GREENVILLE reserves the right to increase or decrease quantities of BID ITEMS without additional compensation. No BIDDER may withdraw a BID within 90 days after the actual date of the opening thereof. Should there be reasons why the CONTRACT(S) cannot be awarded within the specified period; the time may be extended by mutual agreement between the CITY OF GREENVILLE and the BIDDER(S). Due to the existing situation with the return water, expedition of this Project is important to the City of Greenville. In addition to cost, the City will consider the Contractor schedule in award of the Bid. It is expected that a recommendation will be made to the City Council at their December 17, 2024 meeting and that a Notice of Award will be issued immediately thereafter, with a Notice to Proceed immediately following the signing of the agreement and receipt of an insurance certificate. PERFORMANCE AND PAYMENT BONDS: The normal requirement for bonds is waived for this Project.
