Reference Number 0000370246 The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District ("District") is pleased to announce the opportunity to provide professional geotechnical engineering services for the Madonna Creek Pond Dam Repair Project (Project) at Miramontes Ridge Open Space Preserve. Madonna Creek, situated within the Miramontes Ridge Open Space Preserve is located in San Mateo County near the Town of Half Moon Bay. Madonna Creek is an intermittent creek that generally flows northeast to southwest and is a tributary to Pilarcitos Creek. The creek drains a 1.7-square mile subbasin which consists of Eucalyptus groves, shrubland, mixed riparian habitat, and flat farmland. Access to the project site is through a District-owned agricultural site. Within the approximately 0.6-mile stretch of Madonna Creek and its floodplain lie two earthen dams roughly 2,000 feet apart (upper and lower) each impounding an instream pond. The Madonna Creek lower dam is located approximately 1.5 miles due east of the Highway 1 and Highway 92 interchange in Half Moon Bay. Vegetation along Madonna Creek is composed of densely mixed riparian species with emergent vegetation around the ponds. Surrounding natural areas consist of gentle to moderately steep hillsides and flat farmland.
