The Work required for this Project involves the construction of improvements to the existing Gold Springs Water Storage Tank, is defined by the Contract Documents, and consists of the following (see Attachment B - MBA Inspection Report for details and design standards):Distribution Pipe Mixing System: Install a new 8" Red Valve Manifold Pipe, along with 3" diameter Tideflex Series 35 Upper Inlet Nozzle and 2" diameter Tideflex Series 35 Lower Inlet Nozzle, into the interior of the tank, as it is currently a bottom feed tank. Provide pipe supports as shown in Attachment C, along with tee and valve. This new riser pipe would help to mix the tank during well run cycles. 2. Install Overflow Air Gap Siphon and New Duckbill: Modify the overflow air gap by installing a Tideflex or similar duckbill-style check valve at the discharge end of the upper pipe. Additionally, install a concentric reducer on the lower pipe section that runs below grade to ensure proper flow management. 3. Replace Shell Manhole: Remove the existing shell manhole and replace it with a new 30-inch diameter manhole to enhance accessibility and maintenance. 4. Remove Shell Ladder Cages: Completely remove the shell ladder cages and grind down any remaining attachments to create a flush surface, improving safety and usability. 5. Install Lockable 8-Foot Ladder Guard: Install an 8-foot aluminum ladder guard on the upper shell ladder, ensuring it is positioned to provide adequate clearance from the platform handrails for safe access. 6. Install Galvanized Flexible Cable Safety Climb on Upper Shell Ladder: Install galvanized flexible cable safety climb devices along the span of the upper shell ladder to enhance worker safety during access. 7. Modify Shell Ladder to Roof Opening and Install Self-Closing Swing Gate: Modify the shell ladder openings to increase pass-through size to 24 to 30 inches, and install a self-closing swing gate to meet OSHA compliance for safety. 8. Replace Roof Vent with Flanged 24-Inch Vent Neck and Install 24-Inch PV Vent: Remove the existing roof vent and install a new repad, along with a 24-inch flanged vent neck and a 24-inch diameter aluminum pressure vacuum (PV) vent to improve ventilation efficiency. 9. Install Stainless Steel Flexible Cable Safety Climb on Interior Ladder: Install stainless steel flexible cable safety climb devices on the interior ladder to provide additional safety features for personnel accessing elevated areas. 10. Lower Overflow Intake: Lower the overflow intake to below rafter level to prevent backflow and ensure efficient drainage, addressing potential overflow issues effectively
