The Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit District (SMART) is a government transit agency that owns, maintains, and operates passenger rail service in Sonoma County and Marin County in the State of California. In addition to providing passenger rail service, SMART is a common carrier for freight rail service in the North Bay Area. SMART is seeking Proposals from qualified, licensed, and experienced firms to perform onsite railcar dismantling and scrap metal recycling services at its Schellville Freight Depot. This is project specific work that includes dismantling and recycling of the following equipment: (2) Covered Hopper Railcars (2) Side Dump Railcars (2) Ballast Railcars (1) Ontrack Tamper (1) Ontrack Ballast Regulator (1) Ontrack Crane In addition to dismantling this equipment onsite, Service Provider shall load and transport all scrap metal and related debris to authorized recycling facilities within the State of California. Service Provider shall assist SMART in profiling the scrap metal and related debris and preparing any necessary manifests. SMART's three main objectives with this project are: Complete removal of this equipment from SMART's site. Recycle and properly dispose of all scrap. Receive the most revenue proceeds possible from recycling the scrap metal. All work to be completed within 30 calendar days of being issued a Notice to Proceed.
