New Traffic Signal Mast Arm at Bacon/Plympton/Athletic Field Installing a new traffic signal mast arm at Bacon, Plympton and Athletic Field Rd. The project consists of: The City shall provide the Contractor with an existing 35-foot traffic signal mast arm The Contractor shall install a new foundation at the back of the sidewalk in the southeast corner of the intersection of Bacon Street/Plympton Street/Athletic Field Road, with the 35-foot mast arm (provided by the City) aligned as shown in the figure. The Contractor shall provide the appropriate anchor bolts for this mast arm. The bolt pattern of the existing mast arm will be provided to the Contractor. The Contractor is responsible for the proper design of the foundation, using MassDOT Standard Drawing for Type II Mast Arm Cored Pier Foundations, assuming light loading conditions and clay soil type. Soil samples are not required. The Contractor shall affix a bracket at the end of the mast arm that holds four one-section signal heads (one facing each approach to the intersection): o The signals facing Bacon Street northbound and Bacon Street southbound shall each be yellow lens o The signals facing Plympton Street eastbound and Athletic Field Road westbound shall each be red lens The Contractor shall install conduit as necessary, providing the Service Connection to the utility pole closest to the mast arm location, just to the south on Bacon Street. The Contractor shall install all wiring as necessary to provide a fully operational traffic signal, with the signals in flashing operation 24 hours per day: o Signal heads facing Bacon Street northbound and Bacon Street southbound shall be flashing yellow o Signal heads facing Plympton Street eastbound and Athletic Field Road westbound shall be flashing red The Contractor shall install control cabinet and meter socket on side of mast arm.
