Site work and new construction of a medical facility in San Diego, California. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a medical facility; and for site work for a medical facility.
As of March 2025 this project has been abandoned, It is unclear if or when it will move forward. Project Information -The Multipurpose Clinical Research Building is an approximately 135,000 SF new construction of a 5 story multi-tenant building at the Hillcrest Medical Center for UC San Diego Health System. Tenant spaces include Childcare, Retail/Dining, Clinical Research and Office. The Project site is located at the intersection of First Ave and Arbor Drive. Project duration is estimated to be 22 months, commencing in August 2025 and concluding in June 2027. Early work to underground SDG&E overhead power line will take place in the first quarter of 2025. The estimated construction cost of the project is $116,000,000.00 DESCRIPTION OF WORK: -14200 - Conveying (Elevators): This package shall include the following general scope as applicable. Provide and install 2 passenger elevators (4 floors) and 1 freight elevator (2 floors). -15300 - Fire Protection: This package shall include the following general scope as applicable. Provide and install design/build wet pipe fire sprinkler system. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The successful Bidder and its subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage at the location of the work. In addition, DPR Construction and UC San Diego are committed to promoting and increasing participation of small business enterprises (SBEs) and disabled veteran business enterprises (DVBEs) relating to all goods and services covered under the awarded agreement, subject to any and all applicable obligations under state and federal law, and University policies. The awarded contractor shall make best efforts to provide qualified SBEs and DVBEs with the maximum opportunity to participate. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code.
