As of June 17, 2025, a design/build firm has been awarded. A timeline for the start of construction has not been determined. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The Village is seeking proposals from a Design-Build Construction Team to provide all labor, materials, furniture, fixtures and equipment, and provisions necessary to produce final designs, construction documents and turn-key construction of a modern skate park for all types of uses including skateboards, in-line skates, BMW bikes or similar to be located at Palmetto Bay Park, 17535 SW 95 Avenue, Palmetto Bay, FL 33157. The existing skate park sits on approximately fifteen thousand (15,000) square feet whose previous function served as two (2) asphalt tennis courts, including metal halide lighting. If concrete, all elements must have smooth transitions utilizing poured-in-place or precast methodology. The skate park site shall include upgraded LED lighting linked into existing Musco control system, congregation area, benches, trash receptacles, drinking fountain, perimeter fencing and/or barrier system. The architectural style that the Village is looking for is a Florida Coastal Vernacular Style and any structure(s) shall follow the Village's Sustainable Building Standards. The Design-Build Contractor shall be responsible for verifying incorporation of all site improvements, landscaping, fencing and/or perimeter barrier, site utilities such as water, storm drains and electrical service. Proposal Guaranty The proposal must be accompanied by a bid guaranty in the form of a certified check payable to the Village of Palmetto Bay or a Bid Bond (form attached) in the amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the total amount of the proposal, issued by a properly licensed surety company. For contracts not exceeding fifty thousand dollars and zero cents ($50,000.00) a bid guaranty is not required. PERFORMANCE AND PAYMENT BONDS Within ten (10) days of the award of contract, there shall be placed surety bonds, each in the amount of One Hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, and issued by a properly licensed surety company acceptable to the Village. All bonds must be issued by an agent of broker licensed in the State of Florida and authorized to do business under the laws of the State of Florida. The bonds should provide that the surety's liability will be co-extensive with the Contractor's liability, and should contain a provision that the surety waives notice of changes to the contract, including, but not limited to, changes in the times for performance. For contracts not exceeding fifty thousand dollars and zero cents ($50,000.00) a surety bond is not required. a. A Performance and One-Year Warranty Bond covering the faithful performance of the contract and a one-year warranty on labor from the date of final acceptance of the work. b. Any late withdrawal from a Proposer that was granted award but declined, the Village has the right to enter negotiations with the second highest scored Proposer.
