Site work for a playground / park / athletic field in New London, Minnesota. Completed plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.

The Department of Natural Resources is seeking bids for: the labor, equipment, materials, tools, transportation, and incidentals necessary to: Label, picture, remove, and clean all 52 granite steps, remove and dispose of landing bituminous, perform groundwork and tree stump removal, and reinstall the steps back in exact location all leveled evenly and rise equally as close as possible. Landings should use class II crushed granite that is packed. It also includes the legal offsite disposal of any/all demolition and construction debris. The location of the project is: Sibley State Park, 800 Sibley Park Road NE, New London, MN 56273 (Stairway leading up from the beach to the Cedar Hill Picnic Shelter). The project shall be substantially complete by June 15, 2025; Final Completion of the work shall be on or before June 30, 2025. General Scope of Work: o Contractors must schedule a mandatory pre-bid site visit and visit the site and familiarize themselves with the existing conditions as it relates to the scope of work defined in these documents. o Items not expressly set forth in these documents, but which are reasonably implied or necessary for the proper performance and completion of this work shall be included. o Contractor is responsible for all required permits from the Department of Labor and Interior. o Contractor to coordinate and plan all work with the owner. o The contractor shall field verify exact locations of the existing utility prior to commencing construction as required by state law. Notify gopher state on-call 1-800-252-1166 or 651-454-0002 o The contractor shall comply with the Invasive Species Prevention in completing the work. Demolition and Installation: o Carefully remove and dispose of bituminous landings, ensuring minimal disturbance to the surrounding area. o Label each of the 52 steps to identify existing placement and move to temporary staging area and clean. o Remove and dispose of two identified tree stumps causing disturbance to stairway. o Furnish and install class 2 crushed granite where landings are required. o Reinstall the steps in exact location from where they were removed and cleaned. Ensure steps are level. o Furnish and install class 5 material as needed to ensure steps are level and the rise of the steps is as close to 6 inches as possible. This may not be possible with the size of the cut granite step. o Replace mortar where necessary. o Implement measures to protect the surrounding environment, including trees, plants, and other natural features, during the construction process. o Utilize barriers and signage to ensure the safety of park visitors and workers. o Conduct thorough inspections during and after installation to verify the proper alignment, levelness, and stability of the granite steps. o Address any discrepancies or issues promptly to maintain the quality of work.
