The project includes the Work to physically verify the materials of 62 water service lines located throughout the Village. Addresses where the Work will be performed will be provided with the final Contract Documents. The Contractor will perform potholing at two (2) locations per service line and at a minimum distance of 18 inches from the curb stop. One pothole shall be excavated on each side of the curb stop to verify the pipe materials. A total of 124 excavations and associated material verifications will be completed. To the extent feasible, the potholes should be located within the green belt of each service line. Pavement removal and replacement should be minimized. The anticipated depth of pipe is approximately 5 feet below grade but may be up to 7 feet. The Contractor should prepare for sandy soils. The Contractor will be responsible for coordinating Work in the public Right of Way with the DPW staff, providing suitable backfill, handling and disposal of unsuitable spoils, and complete surface restoration of disturbed areas. The Owner will be responsible for locating curb stops for the Contractor and coordinating Contractor's Work on private property with the property owners. Bids will be accepted only from Plan Holders of Record. In order to be a Plan Holder of Record Bidding Documents must be obtained from the Issuing Office. Bidding Documents will be emailed in portable document format (PDF) at no charge. A pre-bid conference will not be held. The Village of Shelby reserves the right to accept any Bid, reject any or all Bids, to waive informalities, and make the award in any manner deemed in the best interest of the Village.
