Reconstruct Portion of Taxiway A Project In general, the work for this project includes removal of existing pavement, excavation and subgrade preparation, preparation and compaction of aggregate base material, construction of stabilized base course, construction of Portland cement concrete pavement, construction of hot mix asphalt concrete pavement, concrete pavement joint resealing, removal and application of pavement markings, and airfield electrical. (DBE) race-neutral goal of 8.1% The Project includes reconstruction of the failing Portland Concrete Cement (PCC) portions of Taxiway A between the parallel Taxiway A and Runway 24 threshold (Exhibit A). This section of the taxiway is approximately 400 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 18 inches deep and has an accompanying fillet section, for a total PCC section of approximately 39,000 square feet. The average Pavement Condition Index (PCI) for the Project area is 67. Duration of base bid work is 120 calendar days. The following phases are listed in sequential order. Phase 1A/1B Runway 6-24 will be closed for the purpose of relocating the threshold 844 feet to the west, see Exhibit A. During this phase the following existing runway 24 markings will be covered or obliterated: o Runway 24 aiming points o Runway 24 touchdown zone markings o Runway 24 designator o Runway center line markings o Runway 24 threshold markings The following temporary markings will be installed: o Runway 24 threshold bar o Runway 24 designator o Runway 24 aiming points o Runway 24 blast pad chevron markings o Runway center line markings Runway lights and signs will be reconfigured to reflect the reduced runway length, that includes renumeration of Runway Distance Remaining (RDR) signs, relocating Runway 6 amber lights in the last 2,000-feet of runway, and covering runway lights within the closed 844-feet of Runway 6/24. Temporary threshold and runway end lights will be installed at the relocated threshold. Runway 24 PAPI's will be disabled. Runway End Identified Lights (REILs) will be disabled. Runway 24 designator will be covered. Low-profile barricades will be placed at each taxiway/runway intersection for the closure. Phase 2 The Runway 24 threshold will be relocated 844-feet during this phase of construction, and declared distances for each runway end will be in effect. Runway 24 TORA/TODA/LDA/ASDA will be 9,156-feet. Runway 6 TORA/TODA/LDA/ASDA will be 8,756- feet. Taxiway A east of Taxiway E will remain closed throughout the duration of the Project (120 calendar days). See Exhibit C. Phase 3A/3B Runway 6-24 will be closed for the purpose of returning the runway to full length. During this phase the following temporary Runway 24 markings will be obliterated. See Exhibit D o Temporary Runway 24 threshold o Temporary Runway 24 aiming points o Temporary Runway 24 designator o Temporary blast pad chevron markings o Temporary runway center line markings The following permanent markings will be installed or uncovered: o Runway 24 aiming points o Touchdown zone markings o Runway centerline markings o Runway 24 designator Runway lights and signs will be reconfigured to reflect the full length runway, including renumeration of Runway Distance Remaining (RDR) signs, relocating Runway 6 amber lights in the last 2,000-feet of runway, and uncovering runway lights within the closed 844- feet of Runway 6/24. Temporary threshold and runway end lights will be removed. Runway 24 PAPI's will be enabled. Runway 24 REILs will be enabled. Low-profile barricades will be removed at each taxiway/runway intersection and from across the runway. Taxiway A east of Taxiway E will be re-opened.
