The project consists of a Base Bid for the construction of 550 feet of concrete box culvert and associated drainage improvements at the intersection of Business Highway 35 and 12th Street, and three (3) additive Alternate Bids for: 1) the construction of 50 feet of concrete box culvert and associated drainage improvements, 2) the rehabilitation of 1,750 square yards of pavement, and 3) increasing the size of the proposed concrete box culvert at the intersection of Business Highway 35 and 12th Street, respectively, at the Port of Palacios, Matagorda County, Texas. Bidders must submit a bid bond, cashier's or certified check payable without recourse to the order of the Matagorda County Navigation District No. 1, in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the bid submitted as a guarantee that the Bidder will enter into a contract and execute bonds and guarantee in the forms provided within fifteen (15) days after Notice of Award of contract to them. Bids submitted without the required security will not be considered. The successful Bidder will be required to purchase and furnish a Performance Bond and a Payment Bond, each in the amount of the contract, written by a responsible surety company, authorized to do business in the State of Texas, as required by Article 5160, V.A.T.C.S., as amended by H.B. 344, passed by the 56th Legislature, Regular Session, 1959.
