The NC Museum of Art, Winston-Salem (NCMA WS), seeks to be a welcoming and accessible place for all North Carolinians and national and international visitors. This project is to assess existing conditions of the stream and pond at the NCMA WS campus, and improve these amenities. Both onsite and offsite urban runoff contribute to the poor water quality conditions of the stream and pond onsite, and downstream. As the pond, now 100 years old, was not built with stormwater in mind, its present condition provides limited habitat and little stormwater treatment. The project will develop plans to restore approximately 345 linear feet of the Unnamed Tributary to Silas Creek, the pond (approximately 2.6 acres), and additional pond shoreline (estimated at .9 acres). Permitting for the project will require consultation with all relevant permitting and regulatory agencies. Development of a long-term management plan for the restored stream and pond will also be required. Full design (SD, DD, and CD with cost estimating), permitting, bidding, construction administration, and closeout services will be required. $1,427,000 (with $144,253 available for Planning & Design)
