PROJECT SCOPE The Nehalem River, Hwy 102 (Vesper), bridge deck (Br#03113A), MP 38.59, has a sufficiency rating of 5 (Fair) and needs to be replaced. The current thin deck overlay is failing rapidly and requires constant maintenance. Lab tests indicate chloride contamination below the top mat of reinforcement, requiring deck replacement. The Project Delivery Team recommends deck rehabilitation as the bridge superstructure is in good condition and scour countermeasures are determined unnecessary. The deck rehabilitation will involve a full deck and bridge rail replacement. The paving needed as a result is new construction at either end of the structure, some minor roadway widening for new shoulders, and stripe obliteration to place new lane markings.
