Site work and paving for a road / highway in Avon Lake, Ohio. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
**As of June 11, 2025, this project has not yet been awarded. The project is expected to be awarded on June 17, 2025.** Summer Asphalt Maintenance and Repairs RFP Inquiries regarding the bidding documents, including requests for clarifications or interpretations or proposal of substitutions, shall be submitted by e-mail to Dr. Ned W. Lauver, at: Ned.Lauver@alcsoh.org. The subject line of the e-mail should clearly read "Bids for summer asphalt maintenance and repairs". The date of substantial completion for the Work is August 14, 2025. Bid date description: Bids shall be addressed to the Treasurer of the Avon Lake City School District in a sealed opaque envelope and be clearly marked on the envelope as a bid for the applicable improvements for which the bidder is submitting its bid along with the bidder's name. The estimated Cost of the Work for the project is as follows: $175,000.00. Avon Lake High School (175 Avon Belden Rd., Avon Lake, OH 44012) 1. North Driveway/Lot: Avon Belden Rd. to North Lot a. Excavate / mill approx. 2" (approx. 4,100 SF) and haul off-site (all millings and debris). b. Pave with leveling course and 2" of asphalt. c. Areas where new asphalt meets existing to be tapered and tack coated to ensure continuity and smooth transition. d. Seal edges. e. Restripe existing to existing layout and colors after paving. All paint must be ODOT-approved traffic paint. f. Catch basin repair and miscellaneous asphalt repair work: i. Tear out asphalt/concrete around basin to 6". ii. Form and pour slump pad around catch basin. iii. Hand cut/saw cut/seal. iv. Mill area around catch basin to depth of 2"-4" (approx. 125 SF). v. Tack coat and ensure continuity/smooth transition as above. vi. Seal edges. vii. Clean and seal %" or larger structural cracks with hot-applied, rubberized asphalt crack and joint sealer (approx. 175 LF). viii. Seal coating: Two coats (spray, approx. 19,754 SF). 1. Barricade area and clean surface of dirt and debris. 2. Treat oil spot with petro seal; apply asphalt emulsion base sealer with approximately 2% polymer latex resin additive per load and approximately 2-4 pounds of sand per gallon. 3. Leave area blocked off for 24 hours. ix. Re-stripe all as found. All paint must be ODOT-approved traffic paint. 2. North Lot a. Clean and seal %" or larger structural cracks with hot-applied, rubberized asphalt crack and joint sealer (approx. 675 LF). b. Seal coating: Two coats (spray, approx. 115,529 SF). i. Barricade area and clean surface of dirt and debris. ii. Treat oil spot with petro seal; apply asphalt emulsion base sealer with approximately 2% polymer latex resin additive per load and approximately 2-4 pounds of sand per gallon. iii. Leave area blocked off for 24 hours. c. Re-stripe all as found, including numbered parking spaces. All paint must be ODOT-approved traffic paint. Note: This lot is used for marching band practice and has a special set of markings that will need to be re-striped. 3. Board Office Driveway/Lot: U-shaped drive/lot on Avon Belden Rd. a. Clean and seal %" or larger structural cracks with hot-applied, rubberized asphalt crack and joint sealer (approx. 125 LF). b. Seal coating: Two coats (spray, approx. 16,328 SF). i. Barricade area and clean surface of dirt and debris. ii. Treat oil spot with petro seal; apply asphalt emulsion base sealer with approximately 2% polymer latex resin additive per load and approximately 2-4 pounds of sand per gallon. iii. Leave area blocked off for 24 hours. c. Re-stripe all as found. All paint must be ODOT-approved traffic paint. 4. South Entrance Driveway and Circle a. Seal coating: Two coats (spray, approx. 40,879 SF). i. Barricade area and clean surface of dirt and debris. ii. Treat oil spot with petro seal; apply asphalt emulsion base sealer with approximately 2% polymer latex resin additive per load and approximately 2-4 pounds of sand per gallon. iii. Leave area blocked off for 24 hours. b. Re-stripe all as found, including numbered parking spaces. All paint must be ODOT-approved traffic paint. 5. South Staff Lot and "Sophomore Lot" a. Clean and seal %" or larger structural cracks with hot-applied, rubberized asphalt crack and joint sealer (approx. 250 LF). b. Re-stripe all as found, including numbered parking spaces. All paint must be ODOT-approved traffic paint. 6. South Student Lot a. Clean and seal %" or larger structural cracks with hot-applied, rubberized asphalt crack and joint sealer (approx. 175 LF). b. Seal coating: Two coats (spray, approx. 46,205 SF). i. Barricade area and clean surface of dirt and debris. ii. Treat oil spot with petro seal; apply asphalt emulsion base sealer with approximately 2% polymer latex resin additive per load and approximately 2-4 pounds of sand per gallon. iii. Leave area blocked off for 24 hours. c. Re-stripe all as found, including numbered parking spaces. All paint must be ODOT-approved traffic paint. 7. South Student Lot (just south of flagpoles) a. Clean and seal %" or larger structural cracks with hot-applied, rubberized asphalt crack and joint sealer (approx. 150 LF). b. Seal coating: Two coats (spray, approx. 19,557 SF). i. Barricade area and clean surface of dirt and debris. ii. Treat oil spot with petro seal; apply asphalt emulsion base sealer with approximately 2% polymer latex resin additive per load and approximately 2-4 pounds of sand per gallon. iii. Leave area blocked off for 24 hours. c. Re-stripe all as found, including numbered parking spaces. All paint must be ODOT-approved traffic paint. 8. South Staff/Student Lot and Stadium Drive (north of flagpoles to Groveland) a. Clean and seal %" or larger structural cracks with hot-applied, rubberized asphalt crack and joint sealer (approx. 175 LF). b. Seal coating: Two coats (spray, approx. 39,655 SF). i. Barricade area and clean surface of dirt and debris. ii. Treat oil spot with petro seal; apply asphalt emulsion base sealer with approximately 2% polymer latex resin additive per load and approximately 2-4 pounds of sand per gallon. iii. Leave area blocked off for 24 hours. c. Re-stripe all as found, including numbered parking spaces. All paint must be ODOT-approved traffic paint. 9. Memorial Stadium a. Clean and seal %" or larger structural cracks with hot-applied, rubberized asphalt crack and joint sealer (approx. 650 LF). b. Seal coating: Two coats (spray, approx. 40,700 SF). i. Barricade area and clean surface of dirt and debris. ii. Treat oil spot with petro seal; apply asphalt emulsion base sealer with approximately 2% polymer latex resin additive per load and approximately 2-4 pounds of sand per gallon. iii. Leave area blocked off for 24 hours. c. Re-stripe parking spaces by concession stand as found. Paint must be ODOTapproved traffic paint. d. Re-paint oval "AL" logo. Learwood Middle School (340 Lear Rd., Avon Lake, OH 44012) 1. North Parking Lot a. Excavate / mill approx. 2"-4" (approx. 400 SF) and haul off-site (all millings and debris). b. Pave with leveling course and 2"-4" of asphalt. c. Areas where new asphalt meets existing to be tapered and tack coated to ensure continuity and smooth transition. d. Seal edges. e. Clean and seal %" or larger structural cracks with hot-applied, rubberized asphalt crack and joint sealer (approx. 625 LF). f. Seal coating: Two coats (spray, approx. 108,139 SF). i. Barricade area and clean surface of dirt and debris. ii. Treat oil spot with petro seal; apply asphalt emulsion base sealer with approximately 2% polymer latex resin additive per load and approximately 2-4 pounds of sand per gallon. iii. Leave area blocked off for 24 hours. g. Re-stripe all as found, including any parking spaces. All paint must be ODOTapproved traffic paint. h. Haul away and properly dispose of broken curbs and re-set parking blocks. Troy Intermediate School (237 Belmar Blvd., Avon Lake, OH 44012) 1. All Drives/Lots a. Clean and seal %" or larger structural cracks with hot-applied, rubberized asphalt crack and joint sealer (approx. 700 LF). b. Re-stripe all as found, including any parking spaces. All paint must be ODOTapproved traffic paint. Eastview Elementary School (230 Lear Rd., Avon Lake, OH 44012) 1. South Circle Drive a. Excavate / mill approx. 2" (approx. 4,574 SF) and haul off-site (all millings and debris). b. Pave with leveling course and 2" of asphalt. c. Areas where new asphalt meets existing to be tapered and tack coated to ensure continuity and smooth transition. d. Seal edges. e. Restripe existing to existing layout and colors after paving. All paint must be ODOT-approved traffic paint. 2. All Other Drives/Lots a. Clean and seal %" or larger structural cracks with hot-applied, rubberized asphalt crack and joint sealer (approx. 475 LF). b. Seal coating: Two coats (spray, approx. 80,821 SF). i. Barricade area and clean surface of dirt and debris. ii. Treat oil spot with petro seal; apply asphalt emulsion base sealer with approximately 2% polymer latex resin additive per load and approximately 2-4 pounds of sand per gallon. iii. Leave area blocked off for 24 hours. c. Re-stripe all as found, including any parking spaces. All paint must be ODOTapproved traffic paint. Redwood Elementary School (32967 Redwood Blvd., Avon Lake, OH 44012) 1. All Drives/Lots a. Excavate / mill approx. 2"-4" (approx. 150 SF) and haul off-site (all millings and debris). b. Pave with leveling course and 2"-4" of asphalt. c. Areas where new asphalt meets existing to be tapered and tack coated to ensure continuity and smooth transition. d. Seal edges. e. Leave area blocked off for 24 hours. h. Re-stripe all as found, including any parking spaces. All paint must be ODOTapproved traffic paint. - Westview Elementary School (155 Moore Rd., Avon Lake, OH 44012) 1. Entrance a. Excavate / mill approx. 2"-4" (approx. 150 SF) and haul off-site (all millings and debris). b. Pave with leveling course and 2"-4" of asphalt. c. Areas where new asphalt meets existing to be tapered and tack coated to ensure continuity and smooth transition. d. Seal edges. e. Restripe existing to existing layout and colors after paving. All paint must be ODOT-approved traffic paint. 2. All Other Drives/Lots a. Clean and seal %" or larger structural cracks with hot-applied, rubberized asphalt crack and joint sealer (approx. 350 LF). b. Seal coating: Two coats (spray, approx. 57,544 SF). i. Barricade area and clean surface of dirt and debris. ii. Treat oil spot with petro seal; apply asphalt emulsion base sealer with approximately 2% polymer latex resin additive per load and approximately 2-4 pounds of sand per gallon. iii. Leave area blocked off for 24 hours. c. Re-stripe all as found, including any parking spaces, basketball courts, foursquare spaces, etc. All paint must be ODOT-approved traffic paint.
