The purpose of this Request for Quotes (RFQ) is to solicit quotes to construct concrete masonry unit (CMU) block walls on several upper floors of the Newport News Fire Department's (NNFD) Fire Training Tower . Question Submission Deadline:June 6, 2025, 12:00pm Contractor shall construct CMU block walls on the second, third and fourth floors of the Fire Training tower. Requirements Contractor shall: o Construct / infill three interior walls with 8" CMU including new masonry openings. Openings in the new walls will be for interior doors and shall have a header and corner blocks shall be used at the openings. o Construct / infill three exterior walls with 8" CMU without openings. o Tie in new block walls to existing walls, ceilings and slab. o Provide precast lintels above interior doors. o Finish rough block ends at door openings with mortar. o Provide #4 rebar in horizontal bond beams at each infill. o Provide #5 vertical rebar at 24" on center at each infill. o Provide all necessary mortar and sand. o Provide all necessary corrugated ties and drive pins. o Work with NNFD Training staff to schedule work and to locate the storage of equipment, materials and vehicles once work begins. o Work with NNFD Training staff to satisfy any site needs such as water or electricity. o Clean-up trash and any remaining sand. Additional Information o The prices quoted shall include without exception all materials, supervision, labor, equipment, appliances, clean-up, incidental items, applicable sales, use and other taxes, insurance, building permit or fees, and the Contractor's labor, overhead, profit, mobilization and other mark-ups, and in full accordance with the Scope of Work. Include allowance for waste where appropriate. o All work and goods provided shall, at a minimum, meet the most current industry building codes. o The doors for the openings have already been purchased and are on site. The openings in the block walls shall be sized to fit the doors. All of the doors are the same size and will be placed on each floor for the Contractor to take dimensions from. The contractor that made the doors will return to install them once the block work is completed. o NNFD Fire Training Center (FTC) staff will remove all existing railings on the affected floors just prior to Notice to Proceed. o The City desires project completion prior to August 2025 and 30 days after the Notice to Proceed.
