PROJECT OVERVIEW Browns Brook overflowed its banks during Hurricane IDA storm causing severe erosion of the Twin Brooks Lane public Right of Way and private property of 14 Twin Brooks Lane. The Town and the private homeowner are working together to coordinate projects so they can be performed on the same schedule (simultaneously) or via the same contractor with costs separated and documented as only Town portion is FEMA eligible. The hydraulic pressure and stream flow velocities caused scouring, embankment erosion culvert wingwall and outlet damage. Sand deposits block outlet flows. Town's proposal is to restore and stabilize embankment using standard best practices and soil and sediment /erosion controls. Rip rap, stones, and soil mix with natural materials will be utilized to create stabilization. Concrete pointing will be used to repair cracks in wingwalls. Overall excavation will be limited to scarifying surface for 6 inches toeing into ground and removal of the sand deposit that currently blocks outlet. Fill material will be placed only where embankment eroded and will not exceed pre-storm conditions or reduce conveyance. There are no known cultural or historic structures within the proposed work area/ROW according to SHP. SCHEDULE The awarded Contractor shall have site access from day after "Notice to Proceed" is issued, the Town is anticipating late June -early July 2025. All work to be substantially completed by August 29th 2025.
