Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Roanoke, Virginia. Conceptual plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; for the construction of a playground / park / athletic field; and swimming pool.

Parks and Rec staff intend to work with the Friends of Washington Park organization, along with other neighborhood residents and community stakeholders, to prioritize amenities and make final decisions about what should be included in this project scope. Amenities that have been suggested so far and are on the list for possible implementation include a large picnic shelter, new park restrooms, additional shade, ADA connections to amenities, and improved parking facilities in the upper portion of the park, as well as a replacement playground in the lower portion of the park (former playground was removed to make way for the new pool construction). Current funding will likely not cover all of these options, so staff will work with community members to identify the most urgent priorities for construction, while also creating a master plan for future build-out phases to enable the pursuit of further grant funding This project is included in the city's 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
