There are twelve (12) culverts in the 2025 Culvert Replacement Program. All twelve culverts are located in the same area, near Hazlitt Creek Road and Ross Durrance Road. The scope of work includes removal of the existing culvert, and replacement with new dual-lined HDPE culverts, all new culverts will require a rock and mortar headwall to be built at each end. Restoration works include all backfill & compaction, compaction testing, repaving the culvert crossing with a single lift of 50mm asphalt, and rebuilding the road shoulders with 100% screened asphalt. Some culvert locations will require additional ditching at the inlets/outlets of the culvert. All extents of the requested additional ditching on-site has been marked out, contractors are encouraged to go to site and have a review.The District of Highlands will provide a dump site for all excavated materials except for asphalt and the existing culverts located on Finlayson Arm Road. Specific details for each location are as described below. Culvert #1: Location: Hazlitt Creek @ Millstream Lake Road Remove existing and install new 300mm culvert 15 meters to the East Reditch approximately 50m west of new culvert location Reditch on the North side of road Culvert #2: Location: 370 Hazlitt Creek Road Remove existing and install new 10m long 600mm HDPE culvert Reditch approximately 5 meters on the Northeast corner Reditch approximately 10 meters on the Southeast side of the road Reditch approximately 10 meters on the Southwest side of the road Culvert #3: Location: 375 Hazlitt Creek Road Remove existing and install new 10m long 450mm HDPE culvert Reditch approximately 5 meters on the Northwest side of the road Reditch approximately 20 meters on the Northeast side of the road Culvert #4: Location: Hazlitt Creek @ Old Mossy Remove existing and install new 11m long 450mm HDPE culvert Reditch approximately 5 meters and clean up on the Northwest corner of the road.
