The airport's expansion project began in 2019 as Boise grew into a metropolitan hub, and traffic through the airport increased exponentially. Passenger traffic has increased by 81% in the past 10 years. The airport served nearly 5 million passengers in 2024, according to a news release by the city. These projects are in response to that increased demand.
