REPAIR AIRFIELD DRAIN LINES The purpose of this project is to repair drainage pipes by removing and replacing existing damaged pipes, and repairing existing drainage pipes by cleaning using the cured-in-place pipelining procedure. In addition, the contractor shall provide videos of repairs to pipes that are removed and replaced. The contractor will utilize the attached drawings that identifies the lines to be removed and replaced, and also the line to receive cured-in-place pipe lining.Drainage Lines, Remove and Replace Please see attached Drawings for pipes to be removed and replaced. These existing lines are 24-inch diameter polyethylene lines and run from one junction box to another. These lines have been breached or damaged and sinkholes are being created by these damages. The contractor will replace the old polyethylene pipes with A2000 pipes, or an approved equal. Work to be done: The contractor will be required to excavate and remove the existing pipes. Some of the dirt will be used to backfill above the new pipes, the rest will be hauled off to locations on base. The junction boxes where the holes are, will be cleaned of deleterious material and be prepared to "receive" the new pipes. The contractor will need to excavate down so that a 6-to-8-inch layer of bedding material can be placed. The contractor will provide an AF 3000 for approval of the bedding material. Crushed concrete with fines can be used as bedding material if the contractor so chooses, if not provide an AF 3000. The contractor will then prepare the bedding for the new pipes IAW with LADOTD Standard specifications. A submittal will be required, along with analysis of the bedding material by an independent testing laboratory.
