Description

Demolition, site work and new construction of an educational facility in Long Beach, California. Conceptual plans call for the demolition of a educational facility; for the construction of a 34,000-square-foot educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.

This project will demolish, relocate, and replace the 60-year-old Ellis Education building (#22) and the Education 2 building (#23) to address the significant deferred maintenance backlog and renewal need. The proposed project will construct a new 34,000 ASF/52,500 GSF replacement facility to support academic programs for the College of Education. This replacement building will provide a total of 504 FTE lecture and teaching laboratory space, research laboratory, and instructional support space. As of May 1, 2026, The project is include in the California State University System's 2026-2031 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Information regarding a design firm and the general contractor selection timeline has not been disclosed.
