Site work and new construction of a detention facility in Santa Maria, California. Completed plans call for the construction of a detention facility; and for site work for a detention facility.

The Project consists of the design and construction of 1.5 Housing Units (6 pods containing 64 beds each), a secure connection to the existing NBJ, a new central utility plant for water utilities and water filtration, and site improvements including Fire Access roads, parking, and security fencing. The 1.5 Housing Units will include day rooms, yards, support spaces, command and control stations, non-contact visitation for the public, as well as offices and workstations for Sheriff staff. It is intended that the expansion be an all-electric facility that draws power from the existing NBJ central plant. Site utilities (water, fire water, sanitary sewer, storm water) are available at the site and able to serve the Project. Special systems such as security, fire alarm, emergency power (via existing diesel generator), among others will need to connect to, and be compatible with, existing site utilities and systems in the existing NBJ. As of July 29, 2026, construction is underway.
