For furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, services, insurance and bonds for the construction of improvements designated as: grit classifiers replacement project This contract includes furnishing all labor, materials and equipment to demolish three (3) grit classifiers, install two (2) owner-furnished grit washers and control panels, removing and replacing five (5) owner furnished grit pumps, installing five (5) owner-furnished vfds, providing all associated equipment including plug valves, piping, conduits, wires, seal water system, and equipment connection fittings, and providing the mechanical, structural, instrumentation and electrical retrofits necessary to configure the grit washers and grit pumps as shown on the plans and specifications. Two bid alternates are included to replace 45-degree bends in gallery a and to remove and replace an 8-inch grit overflow pipe and fittings. The successful bidder will have three-hundred eighteen (318) calendar days to substantially complete the project from the date identified in the notice to proceed. Each bid shall be presented under sealed cover and shall be accompanied by a certified check or bidder's bond, made payable to the owner, in an amount not less than ten percent (10%) of the bid. The said check or bidder's bond shall be given as a guarantee that the successful bidder will execute the contract in conformity with the form of agreement contained within the contract documents, and will furnish bonds and insurance policies as specified within fifteen (15) days after notification of the award of the contract to the successful bidder. The contract documents that the successful bidder must submit within fifteen (15) days of notification of award include, but are not limited to, a payment bond in an amount of at least 100 percent (100%) of the amount payable by the terms of the project contract and that satisfies the requirements of california civil code section 3248, and a performance bond in an amount of at least 100 percent (100%) of the amount payable by the terms of the contract. A maintenance bond in an amount of at least ten percent (10%) of the final contract amount shall be provided upon project completion, payable by terms of the contract. All project bonds must be executed by an admitted surety insurer in accordance with applicable law and acceptable to the owner.
