Demolition, site work and new construction of a laboratory facility in San Rafael, California. Completed plans call for the construction of a two-story above grade laboratory facility.

** As of January 15,2026, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for award has not yet been established.** The project Contractor shall furnish all tools, equipment, apparatus, facilities, labor, and material necessary to perform and complete in a good and workmanlike manner the construction of the PHASE 3: SUPERSTRUCTURE (Multipurpose Laboratory Building) project as shown in the project Technical Specifications and plans and in accordance with the Contract Documents. Contract Duration is 365 calendar days from the project commencement date specified in the Notice to Proceed for the project. The PHASE 3: SUPERSTRUCTURE (Multipurpose Laboratory Building) project is the final phase of a three-phase project consisting of a two-story building elevated on a raised level 1 structural deck. PHASE 1: PLANT UTILITIES RELOCATION and PHASE 2: FOUNDATION INSTALLATION are issued under separate contracts with a goal to finish construction prior to the commencement of Phase 3. The scope of Phase 3 includes construction of the superstructure on the foundation installed in Phase 2. Also included are site improvements and phased demolition of the existing laboratory, which is to remain operational until the new laboratory space is complete and occupiable. The project is expected to achieve LEED Gold certification, and General Contractor is responsible for tracking and submitting the required documents to the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Bids must be delivered to the designated location on or before the specified deadline and must be made on the provided bid forms. Late, incomplete, or non-conforming bids may be deemed non-responsive. A mandatory pre-bid meeting and notarized Site Visit Affidavit are required. Bids must be under sealed cover and include a bidder’s security of at least ten percent of the total bid price. The successful bidder must execute all required documents in the contract checklist within seven days of the Notice of Award. A payment or labor and materials bond and a performance bond, each in an amount of at least 100 percent of the contract, are required. A Class B General Building California contractor’s license is required, and all contractors and subcontractors must be appropriately licensed and in good standing as of the bid opening date.
