Demolition and site work for a service station / car wash facility in Oxnard, California. Completed plans call for the demolition of a one-story above grade service station / car wash facility.

The project consists of furnishing all necessary labor, materials, equipment, and incidental and appurtenant work required to complete the removal and recycling of a certified clean 4,000-gallon unleaded fuel steel tank, a certified clean 2,000-gallon steel diesel fuel tank, two fuel dispensers, the concrete fuel island, miscellaneous items (air dispenser, water dispenser, fuel inventory machine, four steel bollards), underground fuel piping from the tanks to the dispensers, concrete and asphalt pavement, and existing sand and gravel base around the tanks. Required activities include trench safety measures (shoring), dewatering with City assistance, backfilling with City-provided float rock and soil, compacting the backfill, and steel plating the open cut areas for heavy vehicle traffic. All removals must be completed as specified. The work is to be performed in accordance with contract documents, regulatory permits, and applicable regulations. Bids must be sealed, clearly labeled, and hand-delivered or mailed, and must be accompanied by a bid bond, cash, or a certified or cashier's check of no less than 10% of the total bid price. No pre-bid conference or site walk will be held; bidders are encouraged to inspect the site independently. The awarded contractor must provide requisite insurance and performance and payment bonds equal to 100% of the contract price and pay prevailing wages per the CA Department of Industrial Relations. For further information, contact the Citys Project Manager Raymond Gutierrez, PE, City of Port Hueneme (805) 986-6599, rgutierrez@cityofporthueneme.org The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, permits, and incidentals necessary to complete the following: o Removal of one 2,000-gallon single-walled steel diesel fuel tank and one 4,000-gallon single-walled steel unleaded gasoline tank with their associated straps and hardware. o Removal and recycling of two self-serve fuel dispensers. o Removal of approximately 900 square feet of concrete fuel island and associated concrete/asphalt pavement. o Removal and disposal of underground fuel piping from tanks to dispensers. o Removal and disposal of miscellaneous items including air dispenser, water dispenser, fuel inventory machine, four steel bollards, and reinforced concrete slab(s) underneath the two USTs. o Trench safety, excavation, shoring, and disposal of overburden soil in and around the fuel tanks and tank piping (see Special Provisions Section 1002 - Trench Safety and Shoring). o Transportation and recycling of tanks, piping, and dispensers with Certificate of Destruction. o Dewatering of the excavated area with assistance from the City (see Special Provisions Section 1003 - Dewatering). o Dust control during all site activities. o Assistance to Rincon Consultants for soil sampling per County permit requirements. o Backfilling of all excavation areas and trenches onsite using clean earth material removed from the site and / or clean local earthen materials from a City owned property described below. Backfill will be placed in layers not exceeding 8-inch lifts, moisture conditioned as necessary (see Section 1000-6 Backfill and Compaction). o Placement and secure 1-inch thick steel plates over excavated areas and trenched areas. o Final site cleanup and demobilization. The City will have, at their expense, degassed, triple rinsed, and certified the two tanks as "clean" by qualified certified marine chemist or industrial hygienist prior to the Contractor starting the removal work. The City's source for earthen materials that will be used for clean backfill and float rock is located at a vacant parcel of land located at the S/E corner of Ponoma Street and Scott Street intersection. Under this item, the Contractor shall: o Excavate contaminated soil as directed by the City Engineer. o Stockpile excavated soils on-site in a designated containment area with appropriate Best Management Practices (BMPs). o Coordinate with the City's environmental consultant for sampling and analysis of soil and water. o Load into a City provided metal bin, transport, and dispose of contaminated soils at a licensed disposal facility approved to accept the waste classification. o Provide all required documentation, including manifests, weight tickets, and chain-ofcustody forms.
