Renovation of a municipal facility in Yakima, Washington. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
As of February 23, 2026, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for award has not yet been established. The public safety agencies within Yakima County are pursuing upgrades to their public safety communications and are seeking a qualified and experienced vendor to design, build, implement, test and commission into service a countywide radio system with a public safety-grade backhaul network. The collective agencies will be represented by TBD Agency, hereafter referred to as the "County". The resulting system, hereafter referred to as the Yakima County Radio Network ("YCRN") will be defined per the specifications detailed in this RFP. The resulting system is to be capable of supporting the communications needs of all public safety agencies within the County. It is anticipated that the various agencies will transition to the new system in a phased approach based on their individual needs. As a result, all existing public safety communications systems within the County must remain operational until the individual agencies transition. The County is soliciting bids for either: A complete turnkey radio network including infrastructure and subscriber radios, or P25 compliant subscriber radios. The County reserves the right to enter into agreement with one radio infrastructure vendor, and multiple subscriber radio vendors as may be appropriate. Moreover, the County reserves the right to make multiple or partial awards to one or multiple vendors if such awards are in the best interest of the County. Please note that
