Commodity Code(s): 91367 PERIOD OF CONTRACT: From Date of Award through 120 Calenda Days 5:00 PM EST/EDT on NOVEMBER 20, 2025 Any questions regarding this invitation for bid shall be addressed to Marlene Carter at Marlene.Carter@vdot.virginia.gov A. CONTRACT REQUIREMENTS FOR RAIL REPLACEMENT The Contractor shall: 1. Field verify all dimensions shown in the plan sheets prior to preparing shop drawings. 2. Submit shop drawings for review and approval. 3. Fabricate a railing assembly to match existing base plate and post locations. Leave base plates without holes. 4. Remove the existing railing, nuts and washers from the northeast and southeast warning gate platforms. 5. Drill anchor bolt holes in base plate to match existing sleeved holes in platform slab. 6. Attach new railing assembly as shown on the plan sheets. 7. Where necessary, all damaged galvanized surfaces shall be repaired in accordance with Section 233.03 of the Road and Bridge Specifications, 2020 or latest version. 8. Field drill weep holes on the top face of the railing support angles of the northwest and southwest warning gate platforms. 9. Coat the inside of the holes and all other damaged galvanization in accordance with Section 233.03 of the Road and Bridge Specifications. B. CONTRACT REQUIREMENTS FOR HATCH REPLACEMENT The Contractor shall: 1. Field verify all dimensions shown in the plan sheets prior to preparing shop drawings. 2. Submit shop drawings for review and approval within 30 Calendar Days of Award. 3. Remove existing access hatch and concrete collar, remove all unsound or deteriorated concrete and thoroughly clean exposed concrete surfaces and reinforcing steel. 4. Replace any reinforcement in the existing concrete slab where required. 5. Prepare all surfaces by abrasive blast cleaning or another method approved by the VDOT Engineer. 6. Install new access hatch and place concrete and reinforcement to restore slab and form the new concrete collar. 7. Install magnetic contact to access hatch and connect to existing terminal box. 8. Ensure access hatch and magnetic contact are functioning properly. 9. Remove all construction debris and clean area. The Contractor shall be responsible for providing lane closures in accordance with the Virginia Work Area Protection Manual. The Contractor shall be responsible for ensuring LCAMS and VA Traffic entries are in the system by 5:00 PM on the Wednesday prior to the week of any lane closure.
